Margaret Jean "Gigi" Feudner Satterlee, age 87 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at CentraCare Health Systems Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 15 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Gigi was born July 28, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to O.A. "Al" and Alpha (Holm) Feudner. She graduated from Washburn High School in 1943 and then from the University of Minnesota in 1947 with a degree in social work and a minor in psychology. Immediately upon graduation, she married, went on her honeymoon and, upon her return, started work with the Hennepin County Welfare Department. After four years, she quit to stay home and become a full-time mother. In 1962, following her divorce, Gigi went back to work with Hennepin County, specializing in services for the elderly and disabled. She purchased a small home in Edina and it was there that she lovingly raised her two sons. In 1985, after 26 years of service, she retired and moved to a condominium in Edina where she lived until 2007, when she moved to Sauk Centre to be closer to her son, Tom and his family. For the past two years she had resided at Fairway Pines in Sauk Centre.
Gigi's hobbies were almost too numerous to mention. She loved crossword puzzles, the Star Tribune, jig saw puzzles, genealogy, bridge (she belonged to three clubs), and gardening. She volunteered at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park for over 15 years, was a board member of the Minneapolis Council of Churches, and was a tireless advocate for numerous causes that provided care for the less fortunate and needy.
Gigi traveled extensively with many of her dear friends, enjoying trips to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and all over the U.S. For many years she owned a condo on Sanibel Island in Florida, where she became an avid shell collector. She loved visiting and being visited by her sons and their families.
Survivors include her two sons, Richard B. "R.B." (Julie Douglas) Satterlee of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Thomas W. "Tom" (Shana) Satterlee of Sauk Centre; six grandchildren, Paul (Tess Schaepe) Satterlee, Anne Satterlee, Lindsay Jane, Kelly (fiancé, Mark Schumacher) Satterlee, Lily Satterlee and Max Satterlee; one great grandson due in June; niece, Susan (Drew) Stirrat; nephews, Laird Morrill and Randy (Connie) Morrill and their families; and many dear friends. Special acknowledgement to the Sparby and Stotesbery families; she loved you all.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Virginia Morrill.
