Margaret V. "Margie" Roering, age 72 of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at her home in Grey Eagle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala with Rev. Gregory Ombok officiating and Rev. Julius Beckermann concelebrating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Margaret Veronica Koopmeiners was born on February 27, 1937 in St. Francis, Minnesota to Herman and Florence (Pohlmann) Koopmeiners. Margie attended St. Boniface Catholic School through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Gerald Roering on September 13, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. She farmed and took care of her family for 53 years on the family farm in Grey Eagle.
She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala and the Christian Mothers. Margie enjoyed Old Tyme dancing, sewing, embroidery, bowling, horseshoes, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Roering of Grey Eagle; children, Alan (Sharon) Roering of Grey Eagle, Laura (Roger) Primus of West Union, Geralyn (Patrick) McMenomy of Snellville, Georgia, Mary Kay (Chuck) Unruh of West St. Paul, Colleen (Barry) Harren of Upsala, Jess (Becky) Roering of Lino Lakes, Lisa Morey (fiancé Bob Johnson) of Racine, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Irene Pohlmann of Melrose, Mary Jane (Albert) Austing of West St. Paul, Florentine Roering of Maplewood, Gerald (Margie) Koopmeiners of Melrose, Carol (Butch) Klaphake of Melrose, and JoAnn Zenzen of Sauk Centre; brothers and sisters-in-law, Verla Koopmeiners, Cathy Koopmeiners, Delores Gettel, Priscilla Roering, Donna Mae (Ray) Zitur, Richard (Irene) Roering, Shirley (Arnie) Kleinschmidt, Bernelda (Bernard) Ballman, Marly (Fermin) Ruprecht, Valeria "Toots" (Jerry) Terhaar, and Patricia "Patty" (Robert) Boyer.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; children, Jeanette, Scott, and Lennae Roering; brothers, Elmer, Berthold, and James Koopmeiners, sister, Joyce Koopmeiners; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Pohlmann, Marcellus "Sal" Roering, Albin Zenzen, Juletta and Al Wolbeck, Jerome Roering, Beatrice and Jim Wobse, Mary Jane and Harry Keller.
Serving as casket bearers will be Joe McMenomy, Jason Primus, Brian Unruh, Christopher Harren, Bobbie Roering, Andy Harren, Charlie McMenomy, and Ian Morey. Cross bearers will be Jesse and Jenna Roering and scripture bearer will be Kim Warner. Gift bearers will be Michael Unruh, Patrick McMenomy, Robert McMenomy, and Jessica Primus. Mass server will be Joshua Primus and Eucharistic Ministers will be Laura Primus and Irene Pohlmann. Readers will be Amanda Unruh, Aimee Harren, Jennifer Middendorf, and Kari Roering. Eulogy will be by Alan Roering and Colleen Harren. Special music will be by Ian Morey and Megan Morey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Albany Area Hospice.
