Margaret McFadden

Margaret C. "Marg" McFadden, age 90, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully and went to heaven on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the St. Michael's/CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating and Deacon Tom McFadden assisting. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:05 a.m. with a lunch to follow.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday.

Margaret Clare McCarten was born March 18, 1923 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Francis and Agnes (Coulton) McCarten. She married Jerome J. McFadden on January 17, 1948 at the St. Paul's Cathedral in St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, Miller Hospital, and United Hospital in St. Paul for 40 years. Marg has lived in Sauk Centre since February of 2004. She was a very hospitable woman, a wonderful cook, and had a great sense of humor. She loved camping and traveling with her family. She knitted, sewed, golfed and bowled. Marg was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in St. Paul where she was a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Carol) McFadden of Forestville, CT, Jerome McFadden, Jr. (Sharon Davidoff) of Seattle, WA, Deacon Tom (Kathy) McFadden of Sauk Centre, Rosanne (Patrick) Rowen of Ankeny, IA, Kathleen McFadden of Sauk Centre, Patricia (Paul) Baldwin of New Brighton, Mary Ostertag of St. Paul, and John (Teresa) McFadden of Oakdale; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Louise McCarten of Phoenix, AZ; and many more family and friends.

Marg was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome in 1998; brothers and sister, Francis, Ann Marie, John, and Edward McCarten; and son-in-law, Gerald Ostertag.

Serving as casket bearers will be Josh McFadden, Daniel Baldwin, Phil McFadden, Briana Baldwin, David McFadden, Raymond Ostertag, Robert McFadden, and Zachery Ostertag. Pall bearers will be Dennis McFadden, Patrick Rowen, Jerome McFadden, Paul Baldwin, and John McFadden. Cross bearer will be Patricia Baldwin, scripture bearer will be Kathleen McFadden, and prayer book bearer will be Mary Ostertag. Gift bearers will be Shannon Ostertag and Elizabeth McFadden. Readers will be Jennifer Dietter and Christine McFadden. Eulogy will be by Rosanne Rowen. Servers will be Sam, Ivan and Max Lamusga. Honorary bearers will be Margaret Cleary, Joyce Rogers, Karen Gillen, and the St. Michael's/CentraCare Nursing Home staff and residents.
