Marcella C. "Marcie" Thull, age 79 of New Munich, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 after complications from heart surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church in New Munich. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers and the Catholic Order of Foresters at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Marcella Catherine Thull was born February 17, 1938 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to John and Gertrude (Klein) Schwindel. On June 28, 1961 she was united in marriage to Alvinus "Al" Thull at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. The couple farmed west of New Munich where Marcie would help out with chores and take care of her family. She was the Thull family professional baker; baking cookies and bars for her family, friends, and for church fundraisers.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, St. Leo Court 786 Catholic Order of Foresters, and Saint Anne's Christian Women. Marcie enjoyed playing cards, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Al Thull of New Munich; children, Duane (Rhonda) Thull of Oldham, South Dakota, Allan (Therese) Thull of Maple Grove, Judy (Rick) Rotzien of Blaine, James Thull of New Munich, and Dean (Delrita) Thull of Albany; 11 grandchildren; and brother, Walter (Jeanette) Schwindel of Richmond.
Marcie was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jacqueline Thull; and brothers, Wilfred, Robert, Albert, and Delbert Schwindel.
Serving as casket bearers will be Hubert Gerding, David Gerding, David Schwindel, James Schwindel, Jordan Thull, and Matthew Rotzien. Cross bearers will be Michelle Schmitz and Caleb Thull and scripture bearer will be Shelby Thull. Honorary bearers will the Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters.
