Marcella "Sally" Marthaler, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with inurnment following in St. Alexius Cemetery in West Union.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m.
Sally Marthaler was born November 10, 1913 in Melrose, Minnesota to William and Frances (Macke) Otte. On May 7, 1935 she married Leo Marthaler at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple farmed near Sauk Centre and moved to Sauk Centre in 1947. Sally was employed by Swift and Company for 12 years. They resided in Minneapolis until 1965 when they moved to Sauk Lake. Sally was a caregiver at the Pettit Children's Home for ten years. For the past several years she had resided at Pleasant Hills Apts. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Sauk Centre Seniors.
Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Bowman of Sauk Centre and Arlene (Wayne) Borgmann of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Josephine Haskamp, Rose Bromen and Adeline Silbernick, all of Sauk Centre and Eleonore Rae and Bertilla Powell, both of
Eugene, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo on May 24, 1996; brother, Norbert Otte; sisters, Olivia Moser and Rita Hesse.
Serving as honorary bearers will be members of the Christian Mothers. Cross bearer will be Joan Voller and scripture bearer will be Kathy Woeste.
