Marcella K. Kollman, age 96 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating and Rev. James Statz and Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery in Padua.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Christian Mothers and Senior Citizens will pray at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:15 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Marcella Katheryn Kollman was born September 8, 1915 in Roscoe, Minnesota to Jacob and Mary (Schlangen) Schmitz. On September 15, 1936 she was united in marriage to Math Kollman at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. The couple farmed south of Albany for 10 years. In 1947 they moved to Grove Lake Township, Pope County. They retired in 1982. Marcella moved to Sauk Centre in 1995.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and the Sauk Centre Christian Mothers and Senior Citizens. She also was a former 4-H leader and taught religious education for 11 years.
Marcella is survived by her children, Mary (Bob) Wiener of Miltona, Laura (Bill) Pohl of Cumberland, WI, Vera Thorpe of Minnetrista, Lorraine Kollman of Sauk Centre, Jerry (Alyce) Kollman of Sauk Centre, Jim (Rose) Kollman of Brooten, Doris (Ken) Fennell of Hutchinson, Doreen (Tom) Koralesky of Litchfield, Kathy (Don) Leonard of Sauk Centre, Mona (Kevin) Hawkinson of Maple Plain, and Darrel (Martha) Kollman of Glenwood; 30 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Irene Hemmesch of Paynesville, Ben (Betty) Schmitz of Fergus Falls, and Mary Ann Mikrot of St. Cloud.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary Schmitz; husband, Math Kollman; children, Don, Diane, Gene, Ron, and Leon Kollman; grandchild, Mike Wiener; sons-in-law, Jim Polipnick and Fred Regeimbal; sisters, Miranda Hemmesch, and Alma Mathison; and brothers, Christ, Marvin, Alvin, Elmer, and Linus Schmitz.
Serving as casket bearers will be Randy Wiener, Keith Polipnick, Brian Kollman, Craig Hawkinson, Bradley Kollman, Kevin Fennell, Barron Koralesky, and Todd Leonard. Serving as cross bearer will be Steve Kollman and scripture bearer will be Andrew Kollman. Honorary bearers will be the Christian Mothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the St. Michael's Hospice in Sauk Centre.
