Marcella Hartigan

Marcella E. Hartigan, age 80, of Sauk Centre died on August 27, 2005 after a long battle with cancer, at the St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Sauk Centre.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Marcella was born January 27, 1925 in Osakis, Minnesota to Charles and Gladys (Chapin) Betts. She married John J. Hartigan on August 26, 1946 in Osakis. They lived in Osakis and then moved to Illinois. They moved to Sauk Centre where she has since resided. Marcella was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Paul F. Donart VFW Auxiliary Post 2853 and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and camping.

Survivors include her children, Timothy Hartigan, Mark Hartigan (Ruth) and Larry Hartigan (Donna); daughter-in-law, Susan Hartigan; sister, Etta Kind, all of Sauk Centre; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Hartigan and Mindy Rykken, Matthew Hartigan and Jodi Johnson, and Bradley, Kyle and Michael Hartigan; 3 great grandchildren, Brennen Rykken, Jordan Hartigan and Carter Johnson; and special friend, David Daniels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Hartigan on September 27, 1974; son, Robert Hartigan on August 21, 1983; brothers and sister, Eldred and Charles Betts and Opal Karn; and 1 great grandson, Alex Rykken on February 17, 1998.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jeremy Hartigan, Jodi Johnson, Mindy Rykken, Bradley Hartigan, Matthew Hartigan, and Kyle Hartigan. Searving as cross bearer will be Michael Hartigan and scripture bearer will be Jordan Hartigan. Honorary bearers will be members of the Birthday Club, Kay Ogle, and Millie Rieland.
