Magdalena Kortan

Magdalena "Lena" Kortan (Zitur), age 106 of St. Cloud, formerly of Sauk Centre, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at St. Benedict's Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. James Statz officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Magdalena Zitur was born December 2, 1902 in Melrose, Minnesota to Michael and Maria Anna (Jaschimska) Zitur. On June 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to Stephen Kortan at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Lena was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers, and St. Ann's Mission Group. She loved spending time in her flower and vegetable garden.

Survivors include her brother, Bernard Zitur of Sauk Centre; and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Maria Anna Zitur; husband, Stephen Kortan on October 25, 1980; brothers, John, Frank, Joseph, and Michael Zitur; and sisters, Mary Hein, Augusta and Katherine Zitur.
