Mabel M. Ebensteiner, age 101 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 10 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Jeremy Theis will officiate with interment following in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Mabel Mary Miller was born August 3, 1914 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to George and Sylvia (Morgan) Miller. Mabel married John Haskamp in August, 1944 in Melrose, Minnesota. The couple resided in Osakis and Carlos. For several years she worked as an occupational therapist at the Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria and Community Memorial Home in Osakis. Following John's death in 1977 she married Edwin Ebensteiner on August 6, 1977 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, where the couple made their home. They enjoyed taking bus tours across the United States and traveling to Europe.
Mabel enjoyed volunteering at St. Michael's Nursing Home and with organizations for seniors in Sauk Centre. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and Sauk Centre Seniors.
Mabel is survived by her two sons, Joel Haskamp of Carlos and David Haskamp of Warrens, Wisconsin; three step-children, Norbert (Shirley) Ebensteiner of Sauk Centre, Dorothy (Howard) Rajdl of Park Rapids, and Marcella "Marcie" (Gary) Seguin of Brainerd; two grandsons, Brandon (and his daughters, Ella and Alyssa) and Scott Haskamp; twelve step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands, John Haskamp in 1977 and Edwin Ebensteiner in 1991; granddaughter, Michelle Lee Haskamp; step-grandson, Thomas Ebensteiner; daughter-in-law, Jane Haskamp; and step-daughter, Marion Hedquist.
