Luverne R. Caspers, age 70, of St. Cloud, formerly of Meire Grove died Friday at the Department of Veterans Affair Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2004 at St. John's Catholic Church, Meire Grove, with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church in Meire Grove.
Luverne Raymond Caspers was born on October 4, 1934 in Meire Grove, Minnesota to Nicholas and Susan (Kulzer) Caspers. He joined the Merchant Marines in Duluth, Minnesota and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1955.
Survivors include his brothers and sisters, John Caspers (Bert) of Melrose, Ray Caspers (Virginia) of Chula Vista, CA, Alcuin Caspers of Melrose, Eileen Cremers (John) of Baxter; step brothers and sisters, Hortenuse Walz of Spring Hill, Ann Loehr (Art) of Spring Hill, Lavera Schramel of St. Cloud, Eldred Athman (Marian) of St. Joseph, John Athman (Kay) of St. Joseph, Norman Athman (Marlene) of Paynesville and Vernon Athman (Donna) of Sauk Centre.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step- mother, Katie Athman-Caspers; brothers and sisters, Marian McCarthy, Sister Howard Caspers, Norbert Caspers, Renata Caspers, Lauretta Jansen; sister-in-law, Celine Caspers; brothers-in-law, Art Jansen and Jim McCarthy.
Casket bearers will be Steve, John M., and Mark Caspers, John Cremers, Norman Athman, and Vernon Athman. Cross bearer will be Patrick Jansen. Scripture bearer will be Debra Caspers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
