Lucille "Sue" Neal

Lucille R. “Sue” Neal, age 99 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 11, 2019 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lucille Ruth Bosshardt was born November 18, 1919 in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Edwin and Laura (Eigenbrodt) Bosshardt. Sue grew up on a farm near Sauk Lake. In her younger years she loved to ice skate, a hobby she passed on to her kids. Sue married Donald “Pike” Neal on March 10, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre. She always supported and took care of her children growing up since Donald worked on the road. Sue was a stubborn woman with a lot of love in her heart. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, all needle work, gardening, and bingo. Sue especially loved family visits and playing with her grandkids on their annual family camping trips.

Sue attended First Lutheran Church of Sauk Centre and was a former member of First United Church of Christ in Sauk Centre.

Survivors include her children, James Neal of Stillwater, Janice (Fred) Voss of St. Michael, Richard (Susan) Neal of West Fargo, North Dakota, Patrick (Becky) Neal of Sauk Centre, and Luann (Duane) Rousslange of Sauk Centre; daughter-in-law, Donna Neal of Sauk Centre; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Pike” Neal in 1975; parents; son, Kenneth Neal; daughter-in-law, Karen Neal; grandson, Timothy Neal; great-granddaughter, Nicole Voss; and siblings, Helen Gartner, Mildred Pierson, Irene Bosshardt, Edwin Bosshardt, and Lowell Bosshardt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
