Lucille A. Harms, age 78 of Melrose, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany with Rev. Anthony Christoffels officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Lucille Arlene Cleveland was born April 22, 1944 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Oscar and Bertha (Erickson) Cleveland. She was united in marriage to Cecil Harms on December 18, 1965 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, Iowa. Lucille helped Cecil on the farm but primarily focused on raising her family. She was an insurance agent in Slayton in 1990 and when the couple moved to St. Joseph in 1995, Lucille worked as a receptionist at Plaza Park Bank.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany. Lucille enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping, playing 500 and solitaire card games, sewing, watching the Minnesota Vikings, playing games on her iPad, and loved visiting with friends and family, especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Cecil Harms of Melrose; children, Cal (Diane) Harms of Freeport, Kim (Ken) Burton of Cottonwood, and Cory Harms of Menomonie, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Justin (Samantha) Harms, Jeremy (Michaela) Harms, Bryan Harms, Micah (Wesley Isberner) Louwagie, Paul (Addy) Louwagie, Michael (Bailey) Louwagie, and Katie Louwagie; four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jasper, Lucille, and Alexis; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Kari Lynn Harms; sisters and brother, Arla Anderson, Stella Gilbertson, Darlene Aronson, Arvilla Sassman, and John Cleveland.
Serving as casket bearers will be Justin Harms, Jeremy Harms, Bryan Harms, Micah Louwagie, Paul Louwagie, and Michael Louwagie.
