Lucille L. Bruder, age 81 of Long Prairie, died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at CentraCare Nursing Home in Long Prairie, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Long Prairie.
Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Lucille Laura Steffen was born February 17, 1933 in Reynolds Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Harry and Marguerite (Fearing) Steffen. She was a graduate of Long Prairie High School. On June 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to Lester Bruder at St. Mary's parish house. The couple farmed in rural Long Prairie.
Lucille was employed at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home before working for Jennie-O in Melrose for 32 years. She had numerous cleaning jobs through the years, her favorite being cleaning at KEYL radio. She also delivered Route 3 weekly green box papers for numerous years.
She was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 67 of Sauk Centre.
Lucille enjoyed needle point, quilting, crocheting, flower gardening, and collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia. She also enjoyed listening to local high school sports and the Minnesota Twins on KEYL. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who especially loved playing in her Mickey Mouse room. She took great joy in spending time with her Chinese Shar-Pei, Bear.
Survivors include her three children, Dan (Helen) Bruder of Long Prairie, Kathy (Vince) Dolan of Moravia, Iowa, and Laura (Mark) Kortan of Sauk Centre; one granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren. Also a very special pen pal, Jerry Boinott, and special family friends, the Clarence and Rosie Moore family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Bruder on September 29, 1996; and an infant son.
Urn bearers will be Kris Law and Beau Krueger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
