Louise M. Uphoff, age 91, of New Munich, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich, Minn. with the Rev. Roger Klassen, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. A Franciscan Wake Service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5 p.m. and Christian Mothers rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Louise was born April 15, 1915 in Freeport, Minn. to Henry and Agnes (Overman) Laing. She married Alois B. Uphoff on October 2, 1935 at Freeport. They farmed near New Munich, retiring in 1978. Louise enjoyed playing cards in her womens card club, especially Hand and Foot. She also enjoyed crewel embroidery. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Munich and the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her children, Sister Hope Uphoff, OSF of Hastings, Alice Siegle of Long Prairie, Louise Kaiser (Jerry) of Zumbrota; Judith Amundson Lesar (David) of Avon; Charles Uphoff (Debra) of New Munich; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alois B. Uphoff on April 7, 1990; infant daughter, Mary Uphoff; sisters, Eleanor Botz, Alvina Peterson, and Rosemary Gowan.
Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Steven and Mark Siegle, Jon and Eric Kaiser, Adam and Ben Lesar, and Ross Uphoff, cross bearer will be Dianne Buelow and scripture bearer will be Chantel Uphoff.
Memorials are preferred to the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, 116 8th Ave. SE, Little Falls, MN 56345.
