Louise Lyon

Louise M. Lyon, age 92, of Grey Eagle, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 in Freeport.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 18 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle.

Louise Lyon was born June 22, 1915 in Grey Eagle Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Paul and Jean (Johnston) Rohde. She attended Finlander School through 6th grade and attended High School at Grey Eagle. On May 6, 1934, Louise married Ivan Lyon in Milbank, South Dakota. She worked in Melrose at various restaurants and was the owner of Eagle Café in Grey Eagle for nine years. She resided in Grey Eagle Township for most of her years. She loved quilting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, playing cards, canning, cooking and baking for family gatherings. Louise was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Grey Eagle Ladies Aide.

Survivors include her children, Paul Lyon of Royalton, Rhea Jean Holmgren, and her husband Dwight, of St. Paul; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan Lyon on September 30, 1994; children, Zola Louise Lyon, Roma Pearl Rosenow, Kevin Mark Lyon, Ira Lee Lyon, and Larry Ivan Lyon; brothers and sisters, Edward Rohde, Mable Crabb, Myrtle Sufild, and Gust Rohde; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Serving as casket bearers will be Chad Lyon, Maynard Zierden, Troy Lyon, Richard Strassburg, Eric LeDoux, and Dan Ilgen. Honorary bearer will be Tom Keuhn.
