LouAnn T. Kemper, age 63 of Melrose, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the Melrose Area Hospital following a valiant fight against leukemia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vince Lieser will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. followed by Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home in Melrose.
LouAnn Kemper was born on May 18, 1940 in New Munich, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Willenbring) Toenies. On January 3, 1959 she married Arnold "Arnie" Kemper at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple resided in Melrose where she had been employed at Jennie-O Foods for the past 17 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold "Arnie" Kemper; three children, Geri (Steve) Boecker, Greg Kemper and Duane (Shelley) Kemper, all of Melrose; three grandchildren, Amanda, Devin and Ashley Kemper; brothers, Cel (Rita) Toenies of St. Cloud, Gene (Nettie) Toenies of Cold Spring, Al (Marty) Toenies of Royalton, Rich (Phyllis) Toenies of Red Lake, Ed (Audrey) Toenies of Grey Eagle and Harry (Jen) Toenies of Melrose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Marie Rau.
Serving as casket bearers will be Cel, Gene, Al, Rich, Ed and Harry Toenies, Butch Nathe and Marv Kemper. Cross bearer will be Amanda Kemper and scripture bearer will be Devin Kemper. Honorary bearers will be Louise Gieske, Diane Nathe, Millie Poepping, Betty Kemper, Dorine Sundermann, Ida Spaeth, Ann Brang, Bea Hollenkamp and Roxie Peglow.
