Lorraine Schulzetenberg

Lorraine A. Schulzetenberg, 94, of Melrose, Minnesota peacefully died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 3 pm in the CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 17 at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Meire Grove, Minnesota. Visitation at the church begins at 10:00 am. Rev. Marvin Enneking will celebrate the Funeral Mass and Rev. Ken Thielman will concelebrate. Urn bearer will be Mary Dawn Johnsen, Scripture bearer Mary (Schulte) Hoffman, and Cross bearer Don Loxtercamp. A lunch in the church basement will follow the service with the inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery following the lunch.

Lorraine is survived by her husband Ed, children Mark Schulzetenberg, Bruce (Nancy) Schulzetenberg, and Mary Dawn (Tom) Johnsen, grandchildren Emily (Ben) Olson, Hanna Schulzetenberg, Kyle Johnsen, and Nicole Johnsen and great grandchild, Louis Olson. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Schulte and by her sisters Jean Hackman, Louise Winter, Rose Raduenz, Marcella Lauer, Irene Sobkoviak, Rita Loxtercamp, and Eileen Otte and by her brothers Anthony Schulte, Edwin Schulte, Alcuin Schulte, Wilfred Schulte and infant brother, Alois Schulte.

Lorraine was a cheerful woman who had a spontaneous wit. She briefly worked at Schulzetenberg Hardware in Melrose where she said she "met Ed over the nuts and bolts". They married in 1948. Her life was simple and joyous from being a wife, a mother, and a friend. She was not a seeker of adventures or experiences as she felt she had everything she needed "right here" meaning the essence of her life was her spouse, her children, her community, and her community of friends. Her Catholic faith was also central to her life but was more private. It was attending Mass on Sunday, a candle lit before the storm, a rosary said while washing a load of whites. Lorraine always stuck to the basics, to the nuts and bolts. She was a good woman. She lived a good life. She is already missed.
