Lorraine Susan Santer was born October 1, 1923 to George and Annie (Kaleszar) Santer on the family farm near Sauk Centre. She moved with her family to a farm south of Osakis and finally to a farm northeast of Osakis. Lorraine was the eldest daughter in this large family and spent much of her early years helping her parents on the farm. She loved riding horses with her sisters and dancing at the local ballrooms. She worked as a housekeeper for many different families before and after her marriage on September 20, 1962 to Matthias "Matt" Klimek. They lived in Sauk Centre for most of their married lives and were members of St. Paul's Church. She was a member of various prayer and volunteer groups at her church.
Lorraine had a passion for gardening and caring for her lawn and home. She kept all three as showpieces! Her lawn was large and she mowed it with a push mower until she was nearly 80 years young. Her garden was nearly as large as her lawn and she loved weeding it with a hoe and working the soil with her bare hands. She sold much of the produce and gave much of it to friends and loved ones. She would often surprise folks by sending them pies, baked good, and goodies through the U.S. mail. Even though her "labor of love" traveled via the mail, it tasted out of this world!
Lorraine is survived by five sisters, Lucille Pitzen of Glenwood, Alvina (Gene) Waldorf of Osakis, Mary Zins of Osakis, Yvonne (Roy) Zenner of Richmond and Arlene Sutton of Brooklyn Center; three brothers, Don Santer of Spring Lake Park, George Jr. (Mary Jo) Santer of Browerville, Joe (Carole) Santer of Andover; and many nieces and nephews of which six are her Godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt in 1989; her parents; her brothers, Clarence and Walt, and an infant brother, Lawrence.
