Loretta A. Nathe, age 94 of Meire Grove died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 11 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Mary's Society and Daughters of Isabella will pray at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Loretta A. Nathe was born March 20, 1910 in New Munich, Minnesota to Bernard and Caroline (W˜rmann) Wiebolt. She was united in marriage to Leander A. Nathe on June 5, 1934 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple farmed near Meire Grove for 35 years and in 1969 she moved to Meire Grove. After leaving the farm, Loretta was employed at Schulzetenberg's Hardware in Melrose and at the Meire Grove Co-op. Loretta enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Loretta's favorite pastimes were sewing, quilting, playing cards, listening to music and dancing. She was an avid Meire Grove baseball fan. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and choir in Meire Grove for over 45 years. Loretta was also a member of St. Mary's Soceity, St. John's Catholic Aid, Daughters of Isabella and Homemaker's Club.
Survivors include her children, Jane Meyer and her husband, Dave of Sauk Centre, John Nathe and his wife, Virginia of Meire Grove, Judy Zabel-Felling and her husband, Mike Sauk Centre and Betty Blenkush and her husband, Mike of Sheridan, WY; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with one great grandchild due in March; sisters-in-law, Sr. Margretta Nathe, OSB of St. Cloud and Eleanore Rieland of Albany.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Caroline Wiebolt; husband, Leander Nathe on July 25, 1968; son-in-law, Doug Zabel; granddaughter, Kendra Brake; and brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Uphoff, Mary Enneking, Margaret Klaphake, Theodore Wiebolt, George Wiebolt, Clara Wiebolt, Susan Wiebolt, Jepken Wiebolt, Agnes Klaphake, Fred Wiebolt, Joseph Wiebolt and Catherine Wiebolt.
Serving as casket bearers will be Kenny Meyer, Greg Nathe, Jeron Nathe, Karl Nathe, Steve Zabel and Mike Zabel. Serving as cross bearer will be Diane Guinn and Stephanie Miller will be scripture bearer. Honorary bearers will be Caroline Klein, Marcella Meyer, Bertha Vornbrock, Lydia Zenzen, Alvina Brang, Pauline Imdieke, Marie Marthaler and Martha Meyer.
