Loren J. Dierkhissing, age 90 of New Munich, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Pine Villa Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church in New Munich.

Loren Jacob Dierkhissing was born May 6, 1921 in New Munich, Minnesota to Henry and Gertrude (Klapperich) Dierkhissing. On August 25, 1945 he was united in marriage to Marian Pflipsen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. The couple lived in Everett, Washington from 1945 to 1999 where Loren worked for the Great Northern Rail Road as a telegrapher for 38 years. They moved back to Minnesota in 1999 and lived in Cold Spring.

He was a member of the Elks, lifetime member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Everett Council 763, and a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich.

Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Dierkhissing of Rochester, Eleanor Dierkhissing of Freeport, Dorothy Pflipsen of Cold Spring, Arlene (Charlie) Pflipsen of Melrose, Mary Ann Pflipsen of New Munich, and Henrietta Pflipsen of Anoka; and many nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Dierkhissing on December 9, 2006; brothers, Norbert Dierkhissing, Ralph "Steve" Dierkhissing, Edwin "Rusty" Dierkhissing, John Dierkhissing and Harold Dierkhissing; and sisters, Veronica Munson and Helen Maher.

Serving as casket bearers will be Mark Heidgerken, Michael Weidner, Jim Pflipsen, Brian Pflipsen, Michael Pflipsen, and Scott Pflipsen. Cross bearer will be Susan Paulson and scripture bearer will be Deb Jenderseck. Gift bearers will be Charlie and Arlene Pflipsen and Eucharistic Minister will be Dorothy Pflipsen.
