Lois Ladwig

Lois M. Ladwig, age 78 of Sauk Centre died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota with her family at her side.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10th at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday prior to the funeral service at the church.

Lois Marie (Pinke) Ladwig was born July 14, 1940 in Hastings, Minnesota to Erwin & Mildred (Rentz) Pinke. She was baptized in 1940 and confirmed on July 11, 1964 at St John's Lutheran Church in Hastings.

She graduated from high school in 1958 and went on to Swedish Hospital for her nurses training. Her capping exercise was on March 6, 1959 and she graduated in 1961. She worked at Swedish Hospital, Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon and at Fairview Southdale Hospital in the pediatrics department.

She married Floyd Ladwig on December 2, 1967. She had two daughters. Cheri was born in 1969 and Laurie in 1974. In 1988, Lois returned to nursing and worked at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria until her retirement. Floyd & Lois lived and farmed in rural Sauk Centre for almost 50 years.

Lois was a musician, playing the accordion, harmonica and the organ. She was a fantastic cook and baker. She kept her family and the all the farm hands fed for dinner, lunch and supper, which almost always included a beautiful piece of pie or some other desserts. She always kept the basement stocked with lots of canned goods from her garden. She was an excellent seamstress, learning to sew in high school and made many of the clothes her family wore. She crocheted doilies, knit blankets and sweaters, embroidered two different 50 state quilts and assembled many other beautiful quilts, many of which were hand quilted.

Lois is survived by her husband, Floyd; brother, Leo; daughters, Cheri and Laurie; and grandsons, Joseph, Cody and Christopher.
