Lois B. Ceynar, age 85 of Sauk Centre, died on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 4 at the United Methodist Church in Sauk Centre. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lois Blanch Ceynar was born November 12, 1918 to John James Ceynar, Jr. and Ethel Veeder Ceynar and grew up on the Veeder family homestead southwest of Sauk Centre, in Getty Township, Stearns County. She lived in Sauk Centre her entire life and was retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Telephone Pioneers of America and Sauk Centre Seniors.
Lois enjoyed playing cards, traveling, fishing, reading, getting together with the former local telephone operators, making afghans for her family, and other crafts. She was an active participant in the lives of all of her family members, be they siblings or great-great nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her brother, Wesley Ceynar of Sauk Centre; her sister, Alice DeGree of Montevideo; a nephew and four nieces, Alan (Bonnie) Ethun of Harwich, Massachusetts, Linda (Gerard) Platz of Sauk Centre, Sharron (Ron) Knutson of College Station, Texas, Sandy DeGree of Tillamook, Oregon and Janice (Gary) Villella of Crosslake; ten great nieces and great nephews; five great-great nieces; and a great-great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Ruth Ethun, Jean, Jeanette and Vivian Ceynar; and her nephew, John W. Ceynar.

Serving as casket bearers will be Ronald S. "Zig" Carlson, James E. Peterson, Stan Patyk and Keith Sorenson. Honorary bearers will be members of her bridge club, Katie Bromen, Shirley Buchanan, Gail Nelson, Glenna Walker, Salli Brown, Janet Kranz and Edna Polipnick; members of her gin club, Lillian Bromen, Mona Kohorst, Kay Ogle, Margaret DuBois, Dorothe Lane and Dorothy Wiener; and former telephone operators, Rose Arnold, Ruth Bertram, Katie Bromen, Marge Carlson, Frannie Felling, Kathy Halverson, Donna Hansmann, Anna Mae Haskamp, Lucille Jansen, Claren Kane, Patty Neal, Gail Nelson, Lois Pischke, Vonnie Radcliff, Marge Rapp, Betty Schaeffer, Marge Schwinghamer, Janice Spehn, Irene Sunderman, Leora Sunderman, Lorraine Tiemann, Marie Trierweiler, Gwen Veeder, Mux Walker, Anne Walz and Marcie Weitzel.
