Lois R. Beste, age 78 of Sauk Centre, died on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2004 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Ray Steffes and Rev. Sylvester Kleinschmidt concelebrating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Sauk Centre Seniors will pray at 4 p.m. followed by United Auxiliaries of Sauk Centre at 7 p.m., Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lois Beste was born on December 22, 1925 in Crete, Nebraska to Otto and Josephine (Noteboom) Weyhrich. On September 14, 1945 she married Joseph J. Beste in Great Bend, Kansas. They farmed near Padua for 13 years moving to Sauk Centre in 1958. She loved Homemakers Club, golfing, playing cards, crafts, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Sauk Centre Seniors, Christian Mothers, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary, and Homemakers.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Beste of Sauk Centre; son, Robert (Rose) Beste of Grey Eagle; granddaughter, Karri Bauer (Doug) of Albany that Joe and Lois raised since she was two; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Melvin (Lorraine) Weyhrich of Atlanta, Georgia, Judy (Doug) Siedschlag of Spooner, Wisconsin and Barbara Hassle of Anoka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Beste in 1967; daughter, Kathleen Majerus in 1971; grandson, James Majerus; and sister, Joyce James.

Casket bearers will be Kurt Goihl, John Kirschner, Richard Zimmerman, Loren Beste, Gloria Otte, and Marilyn Klaphake. Cross bearer will be Diane Duchene and scripture bearer will be Sharon Arnzen. Gift bearers will be Amanda, Cody and Marissa Bauer.Honorary bearers will be Donald and ElDoris Roquette, Ervin and Mona Korhorst, Ralph and MaryAnn Braun, Dennis and Carol Zimmerman, Lawrence and Alice Gritzmacher, Donald and Eileen Fritzlar, Paul and Patty Borgman, Jerome and Carol Pelkey, Herbert and Alice Peters, Clarence and June Morgan, Al and Louise Minette, Donald and Verona Ripka, Merle and Myrtle Judes, and Alex and Phyliss Miller.
