Linus Borgerding

Linus J. Borgerding, age 47, of Sauk Rapids, died after a short battle with cancer on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, November 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport with Rev. Roger Klassen, O.S.B. officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church in Freeport.

Linus Borgerding was born May 4, 1962 in Melrose to Alphonse and Frances (Kometscher) Borgerding. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1980. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport and The Catholic Aid Association. Linus enjoyed horses, fishing, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Borgerding of Freeport; brothers and sisters, Clarence (Marilyn) Borgerding of Freeport, Pat (Roger) Messer of New Munich, Jerome (Esther) Borgerding of Sauk Centre, Rita (Gerald) Wiechmann of Freeport, Esther Borgerding of Clearwater, and Linda (Clair) Rogers of St. Joseph; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Linus was preceded in death by his father, Alphonse Borgerding on July 15, 1986; sister, Dorothy Gertken on April 15, 1989; and nephew, Kevin Gertken on December 5, 1976.

Urn bearer will be Kayla Gertken. Cross bearer will be Jerome Borgerding and scripture bearer will be Clarence Borgerding. Gift bearers will be Pat Messer, Rita Wiechmann, Esther Borgerding, and Linda Rogers. Eucharistic Minister will be Esther Borgerding. Reader will be Darin Kociemba.
