Lilah I. Ruehmann, age 88 of Alexander, Arkansas formerly of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2008 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Revs. James and Nancy Ruehmann will officiate with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Lilah (Cheney) Ruehmann was born April 2, 1919 in Melrose Minnesota to Arthur and Flossie (Coe) Cheney. She grew up on a farm near Melrose, Minnesota. She worked for 4 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota before her marriage to George Ruehmann in Sauk Centre, on Sept. 22, 1940. They farmed northwest of Sauk Centre, until he retired in 1968. They then moved to their home on the Fairy Lake Road where she lived until 1998, when she moved to Sauk Centre. For the last four years, Lilah was surrounded by her family in Arkansas.She was employed for 5 years at the Sarepta Home and 17 years at the Minnesota Correctional Facility, until retirement in 1976.She was a member of the Sauk Centre Assemblies of God Church, and served as Sunday School Teacher, Women's Ministries President and Board member. She was also a member of the Sauk Centre Seniors, West Union Home Makers, MSREA, and Mn. Senior Federation.She enjoyed family, friends and missions projects. She also enjoyed many hobbies, gardening, knitting and flowers.
Lilah Ruehmann is survived by a son James and his wife Nancy of Alexander, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Tammy Wyatt of Orlando, Florida, Trudy Jackson of the Federated States of Micronesia, and Tracy Page of Alexander, Arkansas; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Ruehmann; son George Ruehmann Jr.; parents Art and Flossie Cheney; brother Art Cheney; and a sister Violet Levang.
