Leroy Wensman

LeRoy J. Wensman, age 70 of Melrose died after a long battle with leukemia Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vince Lieser officiating. Private inurnment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Military honors provided by Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. The Melrose Veterans prayer service will be at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home.

LeRoy was born May 26, 1936 in Melrose Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Joseph and Elizabeth (Kolb) Wensman. He lived in Bowdle, South Dakota for six years. LeRoy was united in marriage to Beatrice Jacobs on April 16, 1966 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. He was employed by Kraft Foods for 22 years, and also Frericks Construction and Jennie-O. LeRoy loved woodworking, fishing, playing cards, his dog Cody, and especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice "Beaty" Wensman of Melrose; children, Jeff (Marie) Wensman, Rick (Karla) Wensman and Jason Wensman all of Melrose; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Roering of Melrose, Adolph (Millie) Wensman of Melrose, Marcella (Al) Bueckers of Sauk Rapids, Veronica Smude of Maple Grove, Don Wensman of Elmdale and Marion (Bernie) Brisk of Pierz.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Jerome and Herbie Wensman, Rose Mary Steffens, and Mildred Winkels.

Serving as casketbearers will be Dale Gerads, Mike Schwindel, John Rempfer, Brian Wensmann, Kevin Wensmann and Kenny Wensmann. Cross bearer will be Trevor Wensman and scripture bearer will be Kaitlyn Wensman. Honorary bearers will be William Massmann, Cy Fuchs, Julius Eisenschenk, Hugo Massmann, Larry VanBeck and Leon Althaus.
