LeRoy A. "Roy" Vos, age 83 of Albany, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the VA Hospice Unit in St. Cloud, Minnesota where he received exceptional care while battling cancer for a very short time.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with Rev. Bradley Jenniges, O.S.B. officiating and Rev. Cletus Connors, O.S.B. and Rev. Virgil Petermeier, osc. concelebrating. Entombment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors by the Albany American Legion.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. followed by the Albany American Legion Post 482 at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
LeRoy A. "Roy" Vos was born November 3, 1931 in Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Bernard and Hilda (Ricker) Vos. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Minnesota. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a tank gunner with the 3rd armored division. He was stationed in Germany from 1954 through1956. LeRoy was united in marriage to MaryAnn Goebel on September 15, 1962 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He worked at Dairy Craft Inc. as a welder from 1965 until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he drove bus for the Albany School District for 14 years. Roy was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany and the American Legion Post 482.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and attending the grandkid's sporting events. He also enjoyed helping MaryAnn with cutting quilting material and playing with his dog Bella who was a special companion. LeRoy loved being active; but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, children, and grandchildren whom he loved very much.
LeRoy is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, MaryAnn Vos of Albany; children, Sharon (Curt) Fischer of Cold Spring and David Vos of Cold Spring; five grandchildren, Scott Fischer of Waite Park, Brianna Vos of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jenna (Denver) Rogalla of Lewisburg, West Virginia, Kelsi Vos of Nashville, Tennessee, and Macin Vos of Cold Spring; brothers and sisters, Marcella Vos of Waite Park, Valeria Lehner of Albany, Linus (Doris) Vos of Albany, and Wilfred Vos of Upsala; and his dog, Bella.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Melvin Vos, Othmar Vos, Marion Vos, and Betty Olson; and infant sister, Lucille Vos.
Serving as urn bearer will be Macin Vos. Cross bearer will be Scott Fischer and scripture bearer will be Brianna Vos. Mass servers will be Keith and Adam Goebel. Gift bearers will be Delores Vos and Susan Vos. Honorary bearers will be Ronald Goebel, Tony Vetter, Brenda Ritter, Clarence Enneking, Howard Koglin, Joel Vos, and the Anniversary Group.
