Leonard L. Hagstrom, age 87 of Burtrum, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at Saint John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Tibbetts officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church in Grey Eagle.
Leonard Leo Hagstrom was born May 20, 1927 in Elmdale Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to August and Ruth (Anderson) Hagstrom. He was united in marriage to Louise Ainali on October 15, 1950 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. Leonard was a farmer who raised dairy and beef cattle and also raised sheep. He was proud to have lived on the family farm for over 85 years. Leonard was an outdoorsman who loved cutting wood and looking for mushrooms. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and attending family parties on Molly Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hagstrom of Burtrum; children, Neil (Judith) Hagstrom of Burtrum, Douglas Hagstrom of Benson, Sherry (John) Zeis of Burtrum, and Melanie (Gary) Erickson of Little Falls; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James "Jimmy" Hagstrom; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hagstrom.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jacob Zeis, Matthew Hagstrom, Tom Klinnert, Clint DeZeeuw, David Zarns, and Aaron Krzak. Honorary bearers will be Leonard's grandchildren.
