Leona B. Trattles, age 77 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Andrew Marthaler officiating and Rev. James Statz concelebrating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the Christian Mothers at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Leona Bernadine Schaefer was born August 31, 1936 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Paul and Mary (Huewe) Schaefer. She was united in marriage to Norval Trattles on August 29, 1964 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald. The couple farmed southwest of Sauk Centre in Ashley Township.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and the Christian Mothers. Leona was a committed adorer at the St. Faustina Adoration Chapel and was involved in T.E.C. retreats. She was hard working and enjoyed maintaining the farm, gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family. Leona also had a competitive nature, something you would see while playing cards with her or watching the Minnesota Twins.
Survivors include her children, Steve (Peggie) Trattles of Alexandria, Brian (Teri) Trattles of Sauk Centre, Thomas (Cindy) Trattles of Savage, Coralie (Blair) Weiers of Sauk Centre, Sue (Mark) Kollman of Sauk Centre, and Bonnie (Chris) Eddy of Alexandria; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Norbert (Marilyn) Schaefer of New Munich, Clarence (Mary) Schaefer of New Munich; and sister-in-law, Lela Schaefer of Elk River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norval Trattles on July 31, 2002; parents; sister, Hilda Weber; and brother, Gerald Schaefer.
Serving as casket bearers will be David Weber, Todd Lezer, Shane Trattles, Tyler Trattles, Trent Eddy, and Tyler Eddy. Cross bearer will be McKinley Weiers and scripture bearer will be Courtney Trattles. Gift bearers will be Sara Eddy and Gregory Weiers. Serving as flower bearers will be Ashley Kollman and Briana Trattles. Amber Kollman will be serving as the reader.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
