Leona R. Bromenshenkel, age 92 of Sauk Centre died peacefully Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the CentraCare Health Pine Haven Nursing Home in Melrose, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Father Greg Paffel presiding. Interment will be at the St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 1st and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 2nd at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 4 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Leona Regine Minette was born October 18, 1923 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Mary (Zenzius) Minette. Leona grew up in Sauk Centre and graduated from Sauk Centre High School. She was united in marriage to Leonard H. Bromenshenkel on September 19, 1944 in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Together, Leonard and Leona farmed outside of Sauk Centre and later moved into town in 1994. She enjoyed being a mother to their eleven children and "mom" to many other kids including nieces and nephews and friends. Leona participated in the Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary and the St. Paul Christian Mothers. She was always excited to attend the Sauk Centre Ladies Club meetings. Leona's greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Playing cards, enjoying music, and reading is how Leona passed her time. She was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Leona is deeply missed by her children, Darlene (Dick) Rousslang of Sauk Centre, Jack Bromenshenkel of California, Karen (Rich) Dirkes of Sauk Centre, Mary (Butch Moritz) Sunderman of Sauk Centre, Jan Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Deb "Bubbles" (Jim Deters) Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Wayne (Pat) Bromenshenkel of Sauk Centre, Anita (Bill) Berg of Sauk Centre, and Randy (Kim) Bromenshenkel of Albany; daughters-in-law, Linda Bromenshenkel and Deb Behlings; 25 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; sisters, Mary Mae (Virden) Olson of Sauk Centre, Bernice Proell of Sauk Centre, Delphine (Bernard) Nietfeld of Greenwald, and Shirley Marthaler of Sauk Centre; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard H. Bromenshenkel on December 14, 2009; sons, Joseph Bromenshenkel on October 14, 1981, and Donald Bromenshenkel on November 6, 2012; son-in-law, Jim Sundermann on December 2, 1996; brother, Bud Minette; sister, Millie Rieland; sister-in-law, Lucille Minette; and brothers-in-law, Dave Proell, Roman Rieland, and Jim Marthaler.

Serving as casket bearers will be her grandsons, Tom Rousslang, Shawn Dirkes, Eric Bromenshenkel, Tony Sundermann, Joe Sundermann, Brad Bromenshenkel, Bill Bromenshenkel, Derek Bromenshenkel, Blake Bromenshenkel, and Paul Bromenshenkel. Cross bearer will be her granddaughter, Joby Van Drehle and Scripture bearer will be her granddaughter, Katlyn Kaiser. Eucharistic ministers include: Brian Rousslang, Tina Rousslang, Marilyn Uhlenkamp, and Bob and Pam McLellan.
