Leona C. Botz, age 88 of Sauk Centre, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 21 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Rev. Todd Schneider will officiate with interment following in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Sauk Centre.

Leona Botz was born May 25, 1919 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Paul and Clara (Peffer) Kuefler. On May 1, 1940 she married Adelbert "Bud" Carpenter at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. The couple resided in Sauk Centre and Bud preceded her in death. She married Clarence "Tony" Botz on October 12, 1973 in St. Louis Park. The couple resided in Hopkins and she was employed by Country Club Foods. Upon retirement, they moved to Spirit Lake, near Aitkin. They returned to Sauk Centre in 2001 and for the past four years she had resided at St. Michael's Nursing Home.She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and American Legion Post 67 Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence "Tony" Botz of Sauk Centre; three children, Karen (George) Hnasko of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Dave (Joyce) Carpenter of Golden Valley, and Gary (Nancy) Carpenter of East Bethel; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Kenneth Kuefler of Pomona, California, Donna Schrom of Orange, California, and Clarence (Audrey) Kuefler of Maple Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud Carpenter on September 1, 1958; infant daughter; and brother, Paul Kuefler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
