Leo H. Schneider, 76, of Meire Grove died July 7, 2005 at the Melrose Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Monday, July 11, 2005 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Ken Thielman officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. followed by St. Joseph's Society, Poor Soul's Society and Catholic Aid at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Leo Schneider was born on October 8, 1928 in Grove Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to John and Bernadine (Kerkering) Schneider. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae C. Arceneau on October 25, 1955 in St. Martin, Minnesota. They farmed five miles west of Meire Grove for 22 years. They retired and moved to town. Leo enjoyed wood crafting, playing concertina and watching baseball. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Meire Grove, St. Joseph's Society, Poor Soul's Society, Catholic Aid, and a church choir member for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Anna Mae Schneider of Meire Grove; sons, Rick Schneider (Carol) of Meire Grove and Ken Schneider (Linda) of Meire Grove; grandchildren, Brian, Sara, Scott and Kayla Schneider; sisters and brothers, Marie Marthaler of Meire Grove, Clara Frieler of Melrose, Ledwina Ostendorf (Ervin) of Waite Park, Arlene Gully of Paynesville, Lorraine Inderrieden (Bob) of St. Cloud, Werner Schneider of New London and Joe Schneider (Frances) of Meire Grove.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elmer Schneider.

Casket bearers will be Brian Schneider, Scott Schneider, Bob Feldewerd, Tim Frieler, Don Schneider and Jim Wenker. Cross bearer will be Sara Schneider and scripture bearer will be Kayla Schneider. Lector will be Diane Smith and gift bearers will be Rick and Ken Schneider. Honorary bearers will be St. Joseph's Society.
