Leo C. Loxtercamp, age 86 of Melrose, and formerly of Elrosa, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at the Park View Center in Melrose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 17 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. Rev. Ken Thielman will officiate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm on Sunday and from 8 to 10 am on Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 pm Sunday evening.

Leo Loxtercamp was born on June 5, 1917 in Getty Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to George and Mary (Kampsen) Loxtercamp. He was united in marriage to Adella Welle on August 26, 1941 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Leo farmed all his life near Elrosa and retired in 1977. He then worked for KLS Implement and at Cenex Harvest States in Elrosa. In 1995 he moved to Park View Center in Melrose. Leo enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa.

Survivors include his children, Carol Marthaler and her husband, John of Osakis, Rudy Loxtercamp and his friend, Lorraine of Sauk Centre, Bob Loxtercamp and his wife, Dora of Sauk Centre, Joan Tegels and her husband, Dick of Sauk Centre, Darlene Marthaler and her husband, Art of Padua, Mel Loxtercamp and his wife, Karen of Sauk Centre, and Vicki Barten and her husband, Jim of Sauk Centre; 30 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tony Loxtercamp and his wife, Louise of Swanville, Ray Loxtercamp and his wife, Ermina of Lake Henry, Sr Georgetta Loxtercamp of St. Paul, Beata Frieler of Melrose, and Rose Uphoff of Greenwald.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Loxtercamp; wife, Adella Loxtercamp on November 23, 1981; one great grandson; brothers, Herman, Ben, Al, Joe, Otto, Hank, and Fred Loxtercamp.

Serving as casket bearers will be Keith Marthaler, Brian Loxtercamp, John Loxtercamp, Jason Tegels, Leo Loxtercamp, and Nathan Barten. Serving as cross bearer will be Connie Stauffenecker and scripture bearer will be Bonnie Walters. Serving as gift bearers will be Brian Loxtercamp, Keith Marthaler, and Connie Stauffenecker. Mass servers will be Doug Loxtercamp and Eric Tegels. Lector will be Bonnie Walters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
