Leo A. Eveslage, age 89, of Greenwald died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in the comfort of his own home in Greenwald.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2005 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Dan Ohmann, Rev. Ken Popp and Rev. Joe Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10:30 am Monday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Parish prayers will be at 8 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's Men's Society at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Melrose.
Leo A. Eveslage was born March 5, 1916 at home in Greenwald to Ferdinand and Helen (Nathe) Eveslage. Leo attended country school in Spring Hill Township. Leo married Armella J. Miller on May 17, 1936 in Spring Hill, MN. He was a lifetime resident of Greenwald with most of his life spent on a four generation dairy farm. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, where he had served as trustee, Knights of Columbus, St. Michael's Men's Society, a charter member of the Greenwald Lions Club, in which he received the Melvin Jones Award, and a charter member of the Greenwald Recreation Club. Leo enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards, going to their lake place and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Armella Eveslage of Greenwald; children, Marilyn Welle Villella (Conrad) of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry Eveslage (Jane) of Waconia, Jim Eveslage (Judy) of Alexandria, Dan Eveslage (Rita) of Greenwald, Mark Eveslage (Jan) of Avon, Cathy Rose (Don) of Montrose; son-in-law, Donald Thull of Minneapolis; 32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Fuchs (Pete) of Sartell and Clara Uphus of Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Doreen Thull; son-in-law, Danny Welle; two grandchildren, Vincent Thull and Jamie Eveslage; brothers, Tony and Elmer Eveslage; sisters, Valaria Lensing, Rose Weller, Alvina Meyer and Juliana Mader.
Casket bearers will be Jeff Eveslage, Craig Eveslage, Steve Eveslage, Tim Thull, Dennis Welle, and Gregory Lindgren. Cross bearer will be Jill Partington and scripture bearer will be Jennifer Kulzer. Honorary bearers will be Leo's grandchildren.
