Lawrence B. "Larry" Morton, age 80 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at CentraCare Health in Sauk Centre.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 12 at River of Life Church in Sauk Centre with Pastor Kyle Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the River of Life Church.
Lawrence Bradley Morton was born April 7, 1936 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to Bradford and Emma (Stetson) Morton. He attended school in Guilford, Connecticut. He was also a volunteer firefighter while living in Guilford. Larry then joined the Air Force in 1957 for three years. On November 13, 1960 he married Joan Elizabeth Stanish, and later divorced in 1975. Larry enjoyed gambling, bowling, playing cards and cribbage, watching sports, game shows, and old western movies. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Larry attended the River of Life Church in Sauk Centre.
Survivors include his sons, Larry Jr. (Margaret) Morton of Port Jervis, NY, Thomas Morton of York, NE, Gordon (Brenda) Morton of Sauk Centre, David (Patricia) Morton of Branford, CT, James (fiancé Sheree Salve) Morton of Dodge City, KS, and Robert (Lori) Morton of Gardner, KS; 17 grandchildren, Kathleen, Kristoff, Lorraine, Brad, Derek, Brandonn, Chris, Anthony, Elizabeth, Grason, Sarah, Matthew, Ryan, Chelsea, Tyler, Joshua, and Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren, Keeyon, Jackson, Gauge, Bentley, Avry, Elijah Jay, and Fitz William; and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Emma; grandparents; brothers, Elsworth, Donald, Lester, and Robert; sisters, Muriel, Winifred, Carolyn, Ethelyn, and Janie "Sam"; and infant siblings, Bradford II, Emma II, Gordon, and Richard.
Serving as casket bearers are Larry's grandchildren, Derek, Brandonn, Chris, Anthony, Josh, Jeremy, Brad, and Grason. The bible bearer will be Elizabeth.
