LaNita M. (Zinniel) Anderson, age 77 of Melrose, died on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Vincent Lieser officiating. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 28 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
LaNita Anderson was born June 29, 1931 in Melrose to Frank and Lucy (Spengler) Zinniel. On November 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Clarence Anderson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Much of LaNita's life was spent at their lake home on Little Birch Lake where she enjoyed gardening and watching the abundance of wildlife in the area. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and a life member of the Schanhaar-Otte VFW Post 7050 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Clarence Richard "Dick" Anderson Jr. of Melrose; children, Cecilia (Pete) Tylutki of Melrose, Pat (Tom) Hollermann of Alexandria, Cindy Weisbrich of Los Cruces, New Mexico, Michael (Doris) Anderson of Chanhassen, John (Lisa) Anderson of Lester Prairie, Jim (Heidi) Anderson of Melrose, and Mary Jane Anderson of St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Florence Bushaw of Sauk Centre and Helen Muzzy of Chicago, Illinois.
LaNita was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucy Zinniel; brother, Norb Zinniel; sisters, Madeline Schmidt, Alice Otto, and Dorothy Seifert; and grandson, Kyle Weisbrich.Serving as urn bearers will be Nathan and Nicholas Tylutki.
