Kyle W. C. Weisbrich, age 22 of Melrose, died Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Melrose Area Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota as a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty as a firefighter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vincent Lieser and Rev. Ken Thielman will concelebrate with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Melrose Fire Dept. will pray at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Kyle Weisbrich was born October 27, 1984 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Duane and Cindy (Anderson) Weisbrich. He was a 2003 graduate of Melrose High School, attended St. Cloud Technical College for Firefighter I & II and was a Minnesota State Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Kyle had been currently employed by Character Drywall of St. Cloud. He had been a member of the Melrose Fire Department for the past nine months. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Kyle enjoyed a variety of interests. He was a former member of the St. Johns Boy's Choir, was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed water sports, biking, and hunting. Kyle enjoyed traveling, concerts, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was a joy to be with and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his parents, Cindy Anderson Weisbrich of Melrose and Duane Weisbrich of Burtrum; brother, Justin Weisbrich of Melrose; grandparents, Dick and LaNita Anderson of Melrose; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and June Weisbrich and Irene and Lawrence Ganz.
Serving as casket bearers will be members of the Melrose Fire Department, Paul Maus, Mark "Bunker" Hill, Joe Finken, Tom Finken, Randy Moening, and Aaron Schmitz. Cross bearer will be Brandon Denn. Serving as honorary bearers will be Brandon Denn, Eric Schmidt, Casey Dierkhising, Josh Dziengel, Brandon Schmidt, Corey Fischbach, Kelly Kruchten, and Adam Pundsack.
Memorial funds have been established at the Freeport State Bank in Melrose and the Central Minnesota Federal Credit Union in Melrose.
