Kurt G. Langer, age 36 of Cold Spring, died suddenly Friday, May 5, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota surrounded by family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vince Lieser and Rev. Cletus Connors, OSB will concelebrate with interment following in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Parish prayers will be Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

Kurt Langer was born November 26, 1969 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Gary and Diane (Stelton) Langer. He was a 1988 graduate of Melrose High School, attended Fergus Falls Community College, where he played football, and then received his Master's degree in information media from St. Cloud State University in 1994. On June 3, 1995 he married Denise Terwey at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. The couple resided in Tracy and Kurt was the media specialist for Tracy-Milroy Schools and coached varsity football, basketball and baseball. They moved to Cold Spring in 1998, where Kurt was the technology coordinator for the Rocori school district. There he coached football, basketball and baseball. He played amateur baseball for the Melrose Black Sox from 1991-2001. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring.He lived for his family and was a devoted father, husband, son and brother. His passion was coaching high school sports. He approached life with a positive attitude and lived it to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all the lives he touched; family, friends, colleagues, coaches, athletes and students. His optimistic view of life in general was appreciated by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Langer and three children, Emma, Adam and Drew, all of Cold Spring; parents, Gary and Diane Langer of Melrose; sister, Kris (Bob) Dickhaus of Melrose; nieces and nephews, Wesley and Jacob Dickhaus, Greta, Lucy and Eddie Schoenberg; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Hiltrude Langer, Robert and Ella Stelton.

Serving as cross bearer will be Jacob Dickhaus, scripture bearer will be Wesley Dickhaus, lector will be Pat Kemper, petitions by Rick Theisen, gift bearers will be Joy Niemi, Rick Trevena and Terry Braegelmann and eulogies will be delivered by Daryl Oja and Gary Distel.Serving as casket bearers will be Gary Heidgerken, Matt Anderson, Kyle Klasen, Greg Spanier, Jeff Illies, Chad Hess, Jack Kluempke and Chris Melville. Honorary bearers will be the Rocori High School football and baseball teams, Black Sox baseball team and alumni.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
