Kenneth J. Zehrer, age 81 of Sauk Centre, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at his home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Private inurnment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery.
Kenneth James Zehrer was born July 23, 1931 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Leo and Johanna (Jennissen) Zehrer. He was a graduate of Sauk Centre High School. On July 8, 1952 he married Leona Kulzer. He was a well driller for Layne Co. for several years. He bought a farm in 1957 in Birchdale Township, Todd County where he farmed until 1980. In 1979 he married Carolyn Shulze Foster and they co-owned Silver Fir Sales. They later divorced. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He really enjoyed going to the casino and spending winters in Arizona.
Survivors include his children, Tony (Mary) Zehrer of Melrose, Nancy (Ron) Winters of Osakis, Bill (Pam) Zehrer of Sauk Centre, Philip Zehrer of St. Cloud; eight grandchildren, Mike Zehrer, Ben Zehrer, Kristine Winters, Cassondra Winters, Isaac Winters, Casey Zehrer, Luke Zehrer and Megan Zehrer; one great grandson, Noah Masters; sister, Magdalene Hovanec of Grand Rapids; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Chad; wife, Leona Zehrer in 1978; brothers, Conrad, Leo, Joseph, Alphonse and Wilfred Zehrer; and sister, Josephine Schrantz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
