Kenneth D. Swanson, age 74 of Sauk Centre, died on Monday, February 27, 2006 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 3 at Little Sauk-Long Bridge Lutheran Church in rural Sauk Centre with Rev. Steve Hilde officiating. Military honors and interment will be at 2 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Friends may call Friday at the church one hour prior to service.
Kenneth Swanson was born on April 16, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ted and Mabel (Witzoe) Swanson. On September 26, 1956 he married Joyce Lindholm in Milaca, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam and retired in 1975 after 26 years of active duty. He had resided in Little Sauk since 1982, had served on the township board, and was a member of American Legion Post 417 of Little Sauk. Ken enjoyed farming and working with animals.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Kimberly and Derek Swanson; and daughter-in-law, Brenda (Allen) Steiger of Belle Fourche, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Swanson on October 1, 1993; son, David Swanson; and sister, Marlys Sorenson.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jerry Falzone, Greg Schauer, Paul Jenc, Donald Roering, Ronald Menzhuber and Ken Sorenson.
