Kenneth L. "Kenny" Monson, age 95 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with Pastor Ruth Gangloff officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Kenneth Lloyd Monson was born April 22, 1919 in Vesta, Minnesota to Peter and Sadie (Wilkinson) Monson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during World War II. On February 25, 1943 he married June Varpness in Tacoma, Washington. They farmed in the Vesta area and moved to Sauk Centre in 1978. Kenny worked at various places in Sauk Centre. He resided at Lakeshore Estates since February of 2014. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Melvin Daskam Post 38 in Vesta, Minnesota.
Kenny loved farming, cars, and fishing. He had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by many.
Survivors include his three daughters, Linda (Larry) Moeller of Dent, Shirley (Bill) Worden of Hayfield, and Brenda Larivee of Galesville, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June Monson; and son-in-law, Ken Larivee.
