Kathryn "Kathy" Kemper

Kathryn E. “Kathy” Kemper, of Melrose, died peacefully, July 29, 2022 at the age of 89 at the CentraCare Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. Inurnment will be at Freedhem Cemetery in Freedhem, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Melrose.

Kathryn Esther Jensen was born December 7, 1932 in Brentford, South Dakota to Oscar and Jean (LaBay) Jensen. She married Archie Rien on September 21,1950 in Brentford, South Dakota. He died April 26, 1969. Kathy married LeRoy Kemper on May 19, 1973 in Melrose, Minnesota. Kathy worked for Stearns County as a home health aide for over 25 years. The couple dairy farmed west of Melrose until their retirement.

Kathy enjoyed making wedding cakes, fishing, and researching the Rien and Winter Family trees.

Survivors include her children, Charles “Chuck” (Kathy) Rien of Melrose and Peggy (Paul) Keehr of New York; sister, Merry Jo Ball of Aberdeen, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Kathy was preceded in death by her first husband, Archie Rien on April 26, 1969; second husband, LeRoy Kemper on August 14, 2020; brother, Allen Jensen; and sister, Eleanor Dick.
