Kathleen G. Welle, age 82 of Sauk Centre, formerly of Greenwald, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Tom Becker officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Kathleen Welle was born May 7, 1927 in Greenwald, Minnesota, the daughter of Mathias and Rose (Kulzer) Welle. There were 16 children in the Welle family, she being the sixth oldest. She grew up in Greenwald, was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew's church, attended St. Andrew's grade school, and graduated from Melrose High School, after which she attended the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph. She lived at her home in Greenwald with her mother until her death, and continued living there until 1998. Since then, she has been a resident at Park View in Melrose, Das Goldene Wohnheim in New Munich, and for the past 5 years at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters, Mathias (Jane) Welle of Greenwald, Patricia (Flip) Spanier of Roseville, Alice Moyer of Wheaton, Illinois, Anthony (Barbara) Welle of Melrose, Rosemary (Bernard) Meyer of Parkers Prairie, Yvonne (Alvin) Fuchs of Spring Hill; sister-in-law, Jean Welle of Alexandria; brothers-in-law, Donald Marthaler of Greenwald and Allen Neidermire of Osceola, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael and LeRoy Welle; sisters, Verena Schwieters-Sorenson, Catherine Welle, Lillian Morrissette, Bernice Fuchs, Marion Marthaler, Cecilia Neidermire, and Clarice Ann Welle; and brothers-in-law, Boniface Schwieters, Willis Morrissette, and Orly Fuchs.
The family would like to thank all the loving caregivers for Kathleen, especially Das Goldene Wohnheim in New Munich, the assisted living facility in Melrose, and the St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre. Thank you to all the other wonderful people who were so good to her, especially Fr. Tom Becker for his visits.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Parish and School.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mathias Welle, Anthony Welle, Bernard Meyer, Alvin Fuchs, Flip Spanier, and Jane Welle. Cross bearer will be Patricia Spanier and mass servers will be Natalie and Cory Ahrens.
