Katherine Claussen

Katherine A. Claussen, age 93, of Sauk Centre, died peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015 at CentraCare Health Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at Assumption of Mary Catholic Church in Morris with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church in Morris.

Katherine Ann Jost was born July 1, 1921 in Ortonville, Minnesota to Frank and Wilhelmine (Zaehringer) Jost. She was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Morris and was the class Salutatorian. She was employed for a number of years at J.C. Penney in Morris. On February 14, 1942 she married Leonard Kill in Morris. The couple farmed near Donnelly until Leonard passed away in 1968.

In February of 1971 Katherine married Clifford Claussen in Morris. Together they shared their love for their families. Each summer all their grandchildren were invited to one week at the farm. Many memories were built during that week. They continued farming until their auction in 1990. They moved into Sauk Centre in June of 1998. She and Clifford also ran a stump removal business. They enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling. She was an avid quilter and gardener.

Katherine was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre, Christian Mothers, Sauk Centre Seniors, and Birthday Club.

Survivors include her children, David (Sharon) Kill of Shoreview, Lori Wiese of Morris, Robert (Jeanne) Kill of Eden Prairie, Ron (Jane) Kill of Morris, Rita Linde of Austin, Texas, and Leo (Debbie) Kill of Annandale; step-children, Ruth (Milo) Drevlow of Long Prairie, Barbara (Kent) Nelson of Sartell, Tom (Margaret) Claussen of Eagle Bend, Ralph Claussen (friend, Carrie) of Zimmerman, Marty (Beth) Claussen of Sauk Centre and John Claussen (friend, Annie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers, Paul (Jeanette) Jost of Alexandria, Agnes Stensby of St. Peter, and Art (Frieda) Jost of Denver, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leonard; her second husband, Clifford in 2013; stepson, Bruce Claussen in 1979; son-in-law, Curt Wiese in 2008; grandson-in-law, Matt Moen; three grandchildren, Amy Kill, Brenda Nelson and Luke Linde; great-granddaugther, Makayla Ament; sister, Margaret McCarney; and brothers, Louis, Lawrence, Don, and Ray Jost.

Serving as casket bearers will be her six children. Cross bearer will be Cody DeWenter and scripture bearer will be Reid DeWenter.
