Karen J. Junkin, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. A private family service will be held at a later date. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota.
Karen Jean Amundson was born April 8, 1935 in Fargo, North Dakota to Alfred and Orphy (Presting) Amundson. On March 20, 1954 she married Walter "Walt" Junkin at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Fargo. They resided in Fargo for two years after their marriage and moved to Sauk Centre in 1956. Karen and Walt formed a partnership and purchased a photography studio in Sauk Centre where Karen was a photographer's assistant. Karen and Walt worked together for 40 years until their retirement in 1995.
Karen enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire.
Survivors include her husband, Walter "Walt" Junkin of Sauk Centre; children, Tracy Junkin of Lakewood, Colorado, Doug (Roxy) Junkin of Fargo, North Dakota, and Matthew (Cheryl) Junkin of Long Prairie; three grandchildren, Spencer, Patrick, and Gabriel; and sister, Linda Elofson of Fargo, North Dakota.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
