Karen O. Blondell, age 70 of St. Cloud, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Waite Park, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. Parish prayers will be held at 5:15 p.m. Monday evening.

Karen Olivia Otte was born June 11, 1941 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Norbert and Verena (Minette) Otte. Karen graduated from Sauk Centre High School. She went on her first date with Roger Blondell on February 14, 1958. The couple was married on April 27, 1960 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. They lived in Sauk Centre until 1964 when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri for six months before returning to St. Cloud, Minnesota. Karen worked as a seamstress for Central Canvas for two years and then for Stearns/Coleman for 25 years, retiring in June of 2010. She enjoyed crafting, baking, and playing cards. Karen loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Cloud.

Karen is survived by her husband 52 years, Roger Blondell of St. Cloud; children, Patrick (Lisa) Blondell of Sartell, Duane (Bonnie) Blondell of Moorehead, Deborah (fiancé, Kevin Chopp) Blondell of St. Cloud, and Tammy Philippi of Sartell; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Marvin) Butkowski of Minnetonka, Joan Voller of Sauk Centre, Janet (Pat) Brady of Stillwater, Irvin (Valerie) Otte of Florida, William (Gloria) Otte of Sauk Centre, David (Marcia) Otte Detroit Lakes, and Roy (Sue) Otte of Albertville; and sister-in-law, Marlene Otte of Sauk Centre.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Verena Otte; brothers, Everett and Elmer Otte; son-in-law, Roy Philippi; brother in-law, Jerome Voller; nephew, Jeffrey Butkowski; and niece, Caity Voller.

Serving as casket bearers will be Roy Otte, William Otte, David Otte, Irvin Otte, Jacob Woitalla, and Tyler Philippi. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Tourand, Jerry Schroeder, and Joshua Woitalla. Serving as cross bearer will be Amber Woitalla and scripture bearer will be Allison Blondell.
