Kamala R. "Kami" Fortune, age 17, of Sauk Centre died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from results of an automobile accident on Interstate 94.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Kamala Rae Fortune was born August 2, 1988 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Robert D. Fortune and Pamela R. Lorenzen. She attended Sauk Centre High School where she was a member of FFA 2004-2005, Wall of Fame for 10th - 12th grades, on the honor roll for 10 - 12th grades and served on the yearbook staff from 2004-2005. She was employed by Pizza Hut in Sauk Centre and also worked at Family Fun Day Care from 2003 to the present. Kami was a member of First Lutheran Church and volunteered at Vacation Bible School for two years. She enjoyed dancing and has taken lessons at Dancin' Off Broadway for 5 years. Kami was a giving person participating in youth advents at church and she especially enjoyed going to Mexico twice with her church to work at a boys orphanage. She was accepted by three colleges and had plans to become a counselor and receive a degree in Spanish.
Survivors include her mother, Pamela Lorenzen of Foley; sisters and brother, Dottsie and Tara Fortune of Foley, and Zane Fortune of Sauk Centre; half brother, Herbie Fortune of Bock, MN and half sister, Tonya Weiser (Keith) of St. Cloud; grandparents, Lois and Gerald Lorenzen of Jasper, MN; and foster parents, Dennis and Kathy Suelflow of Sauk Centre.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Fortune.
