June Simpkins

June D. Simpkins, age 76 of Sauk Centre, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at her home.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 22 at First Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Rebecca Thomas officiating. Graveside services and inurnment will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 22 at Folden Lutheran Cemetery in Folden Township, Otter Tail County, near Henning, Minnesota.

Friends may call at the church in Sauk Centre one hour prior to the service.

June Simpkins was born on June 3, 1928 in Folden Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota to Clarence and Hilda (Rakstad) Olson. She married Henry R. Simpkins in Watertown, Iowa. The couple resided in the Twin Cities area, where she was employed by Honeywell for many years. They enjoyed spending summers at the family homestead in Folden Township. Since 2001 she had resided in Sauk Centre. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a former member of Vision of Glory Lutheran Church in Plymouth and Folden Lutheran Church.

Survivors include four children, David (Linda) Simpkins, Connie Simpkins and Bonnie (Mark) Koursh, all of Sauk Centre and Robin Al-Aryan of Plymouth; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Alice Peterson of Detroit Lakes, Clarence "Buddy" Olson, Jr. of Clitherall, Lou Ann (Ralph) Bistodeau and Richard (Elaine) Olson, all of Henning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Simpkins on August 1, 2001; son, James Simpkins on August 8, 1989; sisters, Corrine Buseth, Adeline Barker and Viola Winkler; and brothers, Herbert and Donald Olson.

Honorary bearers will be her siblings, Alice Peterson, Clarence "Buddy" Olson, Jr., Lou Ann Bistodeau and Richard Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michael's Hospice and Home Care in Sauk Centre.
