Julian Schloegl

Julian W. Schloegl, age 82 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Alexandria, Minnesota.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 9 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre. A prayer service and time for sharing will be held at 5 p.m. Private inurnment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Sauk Centre at a later date.

Julian William Schloegl was born December 17, 1932 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Joseph and Margaret (Santer) Schloegl. On June 1, 1954 he married Elizabeth Breitbach at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. They later divorced. He married Emogene (Splinter) Triebenbach on August 15, 1973 in Sisseton, South Dakota.

Julian was a life-long resident of Sauk Centre Township, Stearns County where he farmed alongside his brother, Benny. They gathered daily at the pump house to plan the tasks for the day; this often included their children and other family members. Julian will be remembered for his gentle spirit and happy go lucky attitude. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends and having a good time, which often included playing pranks on his unsuspecting victims.

Julian participated in tractor pulls and won many trophies. He fox hunted using an airplane and snowmobiles. He loved to read newspapers and magazine. He enjoyed competition whether it was playing cards, arm wrestling or playing darts. He also loved a big bowl of ice cream every evening.

Julian was a man who enjoyed simple things; he loved the outdoors whether it was having a picnic lunch, going for a walk or just sitting. He had a soft spot for animals and loved having a couple of dogs around the farm. He also had a fondness for International pick-up trucks and his John Deere B tractor.

Survivors include his wife, Emogene Schloegl of Sauk Centre; seven children, Patricia "Pat" (Michael) Firkus of Sauk Centre, Veronica "Roni" Kasper of Halstad, John (Nancy) Schloegl of Sauk Centre, James Schloegl of Melrose, Thomas (Lisa) Schloegl of Blaine, Debbie (Ron) Moritz of Sauk Centre, and Carla (Steve) Brunn of St. Cloud; six step-children, Allen (Kremi) Triebenbach of New Ulm, Laurie (Peter) Marthaler of Sauk Centre, Nancy (John) Triebenbach Schloegl of Sauk Centre, Terry (Lois) Triebenbach of Big Sandy, Texas, Shelly (Russ) Triebenbach Peterick of Clarissa, and Michael (Tammie) Triebenbach of Sauk Centre; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard "Ben" Schloegl; and sister, Mary Ann Zachariason.
