Julian Dubois

Dr. Julian DuBois Jr. died unexpectedly on Dec. 16, 2007, in South Padre Island, Texas, after a brief illness.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre.

Dr. DuBois was born on April 4, 1918, in Sauk Centre to Dr. Julian DuBois Sr. and Katherine Mattocks DuBois. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School, Beloit College, University of North Dakota and New York Medical College. He served in the U.S. Army during medical school and subsequently in hospitals in Sheridan, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash. He joined his father in medical practice at the Sauk Centre Clinic in the fall of 1949. In addition to his clinic he followed his father as physician for the Sauk Centre Home School until it closed. After 39 years of serving the community, Dr. DuBois retired from practice in 1988. For the next 19 years he enjoyed traveling with his wife Virginia, with whom he lived a 60 year love story. Dr. DuBois loved playing golf, moose hunting and traveling. His infallible sense of direction kept many a person from getting lost.

Dr. DuBois is survived by his wife Virginia; his children, Katherine (Kandy) and husband Bob Heinen, of Lafayette, Calif., Nancy Sack and husband Al of Anaheim, Calif., and Jim and wife Deb of Centennial, Colo., and his six grandchildren, Chris, Nate and Beth Heinen, Darren Sack (wife Loren) and Kate and Morgan DuBois, all of whom he was very proud.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sauk Centre Country Club, the ALS Association or Ducks Unlimited are appreciated.
